Powder Blue Tang | Acanthurus leucosternon
The Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon) is an extraordinarily beautiful fish. These fish are baby blue in color with a bright yellow dorsal, white ventral and anal fins, black face with white markings, and large eyes. Once established, these fish do very well in an established tank with lots of live rock and swimming room. Keep only one per tank. They are voracious algae eaters that do well in fish only or reef tanks, as long as there is plenty of live rock to pick at.
Given their need to swim constantly, Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon) should be kept in a minimum 75 gallon tank when smaller, 125 gallon as they grow.
If you want to keep a Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon) with other tangs, it's best to add them all together, or add the Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon) last. Always do a minimum of 3 tangs, if doing more than 1. And for 3 or more, we recommend a minimum 180 gallon tank.
