Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus)
The Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus) is one of the most prized specimens of all saltwater fish. If housed properly, it is a rewarding and attractive addition to any large fish-only or reef tank. Be sure to provide good lighting, lots of free swimming space and plenty of potential hiding spots for the Purple Tang. They can be very aggressive and do not fare well with tank mates of similar body shape, especially other Tangs of the genus Zebrasoma.
Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus)-Feeding
The Purple Tang will graze on algae in the aquarium as well as accepting other prepared foods both frozen and dried. Purple Tangs need vitamin supplements that are high in beta-carotene, to help prevent lateral line disease.

I can't say enough about NY Aquatic's, I had purchase a XXL purple yank and shipping basically Fed-Ex destroyed the box prior to me receiving it. Of Course the fish didn't survive, Upon contacting NY Aquatic's I had a replacement sent out the next day. I have ordered from almost every online fish supplier there is and there has been several time I used the 14 day quarantee. I always received a smaller version then what I paid for, to my surprise NY Aquatics sent me the same size as ordered. I can't say enough about the way the handled the situation at hand and was totally shock on how fast it. was made corrected. Feel confident when buying from them, wish all marine sellers were as honest as NY Aquatics, AAAAAA++++++++++ rating

First order with NY Aquatic. Large healthy purple tang at a low price. Ate within a few hours after receiving. Well packaged in a large bag. Delivery was delayed 24 hrs by FedEx and fish was not stressed at all after spending about 54 hours in the bag.

I have waiting a long time to purchase a purple tang due to the typical 300-350 dollar price range, as well as the fact that the price was for a small 2-3 inch fish. Over memorial day weekend I took advantage of the sale and bought a purple tang for less than 90 dollars plus shipping. Upon opening the package I was delighted to discover that the fish a received was about 5”. After about 2-3 the newly acclimated fish began to eat. This was the first time I used NY aquatics and definitely won’t be the last. I don’t write reviews often but felt compelled to show my appreciation to NY aquatics.

Michael was very prompt and thorough in answering my questions. The purple tang arrived promptly and very well packed. It was bigger than I was expecting and adjusted to my QT tank very easily. I would highly recommend getting your fish from NY Aquatics.

Sent me a great looking purple. I was skeptical since some of the purples I’ve seen aren’t that dark purple. This one was REALLY pretty!!!
