Product Overview
Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus)
The Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus) is one of the most prized specimens of all saltwater fish. If housed properly, it is a rewarding and attractive addition to any large fish-only or reef tank. Be sure to provide good lighting, lots of free swimming space and plenty of potential hiding spots for the Purple Tang. They can be very aggressive and do not fare well with tank mates of similar body shape, especially other Tangs of the genus Zebrasoma.
Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus)-Feeding
The Purple Tang will graze on algae in the aquarium as well as accepting other prepared foods both frozen and dried. Purple Tangs need vitamin supplements that are high in beta-carotene, to help prevent lateral line disease.

5 Great Value, Quality, and Service
Posted by K Lawrence on Jul 23rd 2021
I received my first order today of a Purple Tang and Bimaculatus Anthias. My order was set up for pick up by FexEx within 15 minutes of submission, these guys are on top of every order! My fish arrived well packed (triple bagged) with the perfect ratio of air to water. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of my Purple Tang (3.5" nose to tail, 4.5" to bottom). It has nice deep purple coloring with a vibrant yellow tail and yellow trim to the pectoral fins. I did a drip acclimation to a 90% tank water to bag water ratio (i.e. drip until 90% of the water in the bucket is tank water). It takes about an hour or so for my drip acclimation to be complete. My Purple Tang was eating gut-loaded brine and spinach within 15 minutes of being introduced. FYI, I rotate between spinach and nori to give my herbivores variety. I LOVE NY Aquatics and look forward to my next order (maybe a trio of Bimac females or a Powder Blue tang or an Asfur Angelfish).

5 We call him Lucky.... absolutely awesome
Posted by chad m jackson on Jul 18th 2021
The lil guy arrived alive and looking awesome......but here's why we call him Lucky...FedEx delivered him a day late i was soo worried ....he came cold and litterally not moving with eyes still open me and the kiddos were soo sad then out of the blue i see no movement just a faint gasp....I immediately jumped into action.....I can proudly say now he is looking awesome and gets along with our FoxFace and was eating from the moment I started acclimating the lil dude. I am Definitely buying from these guys again just need to figure out how I can help Fed Ex....or should I say the next new addition. 5 STARS Dated 7/18/21...purchased Date 7/15/21
