Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus)
The Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus) is one of the most prized specimens of all saltwater fish. If housed properly, it is a rewarding and attractive addition to any large fish-only or reef tank. Be sure to provide good lighting, lots of free swimming space and plenty of potential hiding spots for the Purple Tang. They can be very aggressive and do not fare well with tank mates of similar body shape, especially other Tangs of the genus Zebrasoma.
Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurus)-Feeding
The Purple Tang will graze on algae in the aquarium as well as accepting other prepared foods both frozen and dried. Purple Tangs need vitamin supplements that are high in beta-carotene, to help prevent lateral line disease.

This fish is a little on the small side. Was advertised as 2" but this guy is only an inch but WOW !! this is one beautiful little fish. He took well in my 75 gallon display after quarantine. Eats great and is holding his own . So I am giving 5 stars because of the phenomenal price. $ 100.00 for a purple tang WOW!!!!!

I received a purple and yellow tang the same size and bagged professionally. They arrived alive and now hay in my 125 reef tank

I received the Purple Tang along with a powder Brown Tang and both were lively and in great shape. They have been added to my DT along with a Yellow Tang and they are all getting along great with my Hippo and Sailfin.

I ordered the purple tang from NY aquatic because it was so much cheaper than other online retailers. I was pleasantly surprised when the fish arrived. It was in good condition and looked healthy. I put it through 30 day quarantine and it is now thriving in my display tank. It was a great purchase.
